2021 sees the 77th anniversary of the Normandy landings but this year it will be very different for many people and many veterans and their families will not be returning to the beaches, drop zones and the hedgerows of Normandy to commemorate the epic battle for Normandy in 1944.
Many thousands of tourists will probably be unable to visit the region and the museums, cemeteries, memorials and battlefields.
Without a doubt, interest in the D Day landings has been encouraged by major films in recent years such as “Saving Private Ryan” and “Band of Brothers”, and we have stocked and sold items in our shop in Sainte Mere Eglise for the past 16 years. However, the changes which are affecting everyone have had to be addressed and shop is now permanently closed due mainly to Brexit rules and regulations.
All items will be mailed from UK. We will be opening a new showroom with retail facilities (by appointment) in the summer in Ramsgate.
Many veterans will probably now never return to Normandy, and many families are also unable to return for this year but we can still keep their memories alive.
We hope to be back in the shop for next year, but in the meantime please do not hesitate to make contact with us if you are searching for a specific item.
